What’s Soo Burger Month?
Today is October 1st, and that means it is the beginning of Habitat’s first annual Soo Burger Month fundraiser!
Soo Burger Month (sponsored by OutSpoken Brewing) is a city-wide fundraiser running throughout the month of October. Using the Burger Passport, Habitat will guide you to participating restaurants that are offering a creative new burger (or a tried-and-true one) from which at least $1 will be donated to Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie & Area per burger sold.
Participating restaurants will compete to win the Best Burger Award (as voted on by customers) and/or the Most Burgers Sold award.
The fundraiser runs from October 1 to October 31, with awards being announced in early November.
While you #SupportLocal and #SupportHabitat this October, take photos of your #SooBurgerMonth adventures and send them our way to be featured in our Burger Gallery! You can do this by tagging Habitat on social media, using the #SooBurgerMonth hashtag, or emailing marketing@habitatsault.ca!

How is OutSpoken Brewing part of this?
Established in 2011, OutSpoken Brewing is a micro-craft brewery with a heavy focus on quality ingredients, community-mindedness, and supporting local. OutSpoken prides itself on using local ingredients where possible and continuing to expand its catalogue of beer styles, always releasing new brews with a variety of flavour profiles.
OutSpoken is offering a special edition can of their Anvil Red Ale in honour of Soo Burger Month. For the month of October, they will be donating $0.50 of every can of Anvil sold and $1 of every glass of Anvil sold from the brewery. Customers will also be able to donate to Habitat any time they visit the brewery!
Anvil Red Ale – “Strike when it’s hot and cool down with this refreshing Red Ale. Anvil pours deep red in colour with a rich, creamy cap. Medium-bodied and appropriately balanced. The caramel malt and hoppy nuances of this beverage will pair well with anything grilled.”
