Job Purpose
The ReStore Donation Procurement Intern is primarily responsible for coordinating donation procurement, marketing and communications for Habitat SSMA’s ReStore. They will be attending outreach events, and collaborating with staff to operate social media accounts as well as the website including the online shop. Work will include planning, organizing and executing various marketing and procurement initiatives to internal and external stakeholders. This position will monitor, upload product, and trouble shoot the ReStore online shop. This work will be done in accordance with the Habitat for Humanity Canada and Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie by working collaboratively with volunteers and other staff to ensure the highest standards are achieved. The Marketing and Outreach Intern is also responsible for upholding the Vision, Mission and Values of Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie & Area and for complying with all policies, procedures and directives.
Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach
- Seeking out and attending community events that align with Habitat’s vision, mission and values
- Promoting the Habitat ReStore
- Identifying and cultivating relationship with residents, community organizations, and businesses through coordinated outreach efforts and attending meetings as a representative of Habitat
- Participating in volunteer recruitment, recognition and retention efforts
- Acting as a friendly point of contact for Habitat
Marketing and Communications
- Working collaboratively with staff to develop and implement an annual marketing plan, including email marketing, social media and advertising
- Preparing content as required including signage, press releases, social media posts, and flyers
- Participating in interviews and commercials as necessary
- Identifying marketing opportunities and developing appropriate plans
- Developing promotional material for the ReStore online shop
- Developing and implementing a marketing campaign for the ReStore online shop
Website Maintenance
- Maintaining and updating web content pertaining to the ReStore on a regular basis, including the online shop
- Acting as the main point of contact for the ReStore online shop
- Photographing, uploading, and developing descriptions for online products
- Maintaining an accurate inventory of online products
Product Procurement
- Collaborating with the ReStore staff to create a ReStore procurement and donor campaign and corresponding database
- Researching and initiating telephone or email contact with new donor prospects
- Meeting with potential donors with the Director of Operations or Assistant Manager
Knowledge of Brand and Products:
- Promoting Habitat for Humanity Vision, Mission and Values;
- Promoting ReStore as the HFHSSMA Social Enterprise that generates revenue for builds
- Promoting the use of the Processing Centre for high quality donations
Other Responsibilities
- Providing a friendly and knowledgeable initial point of contact for public, volunteers, donors, and Habitat Affiliates
- Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Candidate must be a new entrant into the workforce, are transitioning to a new career, or be unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field.
- Candidate must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship in the 2020 Mandate.
- Candidate must be 18 years of age or older.
- Candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada (proof of work visa will be required)
- Once hired, the candidate must reside in the Northern Ontario community in which they are employed.
- Minimum postsecondary diploma, preferred in field of fundraising, marketing, public relations, or business administration from an accredited college or university.
