Wellington 2021
Our semi-detached build on Wellington St. W. is officially complete! Our 13th Habitat Homeowner, Samantha, and her two children are all moved into their very own home.
A Dedication Ceremony was held on Saturday, October 30th where Board Chair, Frank Bentrovato, handed the keys over to the family. Media, sponsors, volunteers, and staff came by to tour the home and congratulate the family.
“Now I feel like we are moving into a different phase of life, where I am more established in my career, I know what I want to do in life, the kids are going to be teenagers soon and becoming more independent,” said Samantha. “I feel like getting this house at this time is perfect for us.”
Samantha Kyle, Habitat Homeowner #13
Samantha and her family completed 500 volunteer hours before moving into their Habitat Home and will be paying an affordable mortgage on the home.
The next-door unit is also completed and the successful applicant family should be announced within the next month.
We have many folks to thank for the success of this build, including:

National Housing Day (Nov 22)
Each year, National Housing Day is held on November 22. It’s a day to recognize the important work done by housing partners to improve access to housing for everyone in Canada.
Now, more than ever, National Housing Day is an opportunity to reflect on the work that still needs to be done. As our communities recover from the pandemic, we need to ensure that everyone in Canada has access to affordable and equitable housing.
To support our mission and help us build a future where everyone has a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home, please donate at:
Giving Tuesday (Nov 30)
Giving Tuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday.
The “Opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies, and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for #GivingTuesday.
How to Participate:
- Donate to Habitat at www.habitatsault.ca/donate, with a cheque, via e-transfer (donate@habitatsault.ca), or on CanadaHelps.org
- Submit a volunteer application in-store or online at www.habitatsault.ca/volunteer

What can I donate to the Habitat ReStore?
Great question! While every donation can help raise funds for our Affordable Homeownership Program, there are some items we, unfortunately, can’t accept.
Donating these items can cost Habitat for Humanity time and money, so be sure to check this list before dropping them off!
Items we CAN accept:
- Appliances & electronics (working or not!)
- Antiques
- Bathtubs
- Household batteries
- Cabinets & moldings
- Decor
- Furniture
- Flooring, doors, & windows
- Lighting fixtures
- Sinks & plumbing fixtures
- Lumber (clean with no nails)
- New toilets
- Tools & hardware
- Seasonal items
- Scrap metal
- Outdoor items
Items we CANNOT accept:

Please don’t dump your donation!
Drop off your donations from Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. when staff/volunteers are here. Dropping off your donation outside of business hours leaves it out in the weather – turning it into garbage.
Still not sure about what to donate?
Give us a call at (705) 941-9646.
We’re happy to chat about your donation! We even offer free pick-ups!
