Fundraising during a COVID-19 pandemic is no easy feat… but our community helped make sure our first-ever Porch Portraits fundraiser was a socially-distant success!
We’d like to thank all of the generous donors who signed up for portrait sessions, as well as the photographers who donated their time and skills. In the three days of portrait sessions, we raised $1,235 and completed 25 separate photoshoots!
In exchange for a minimum $50 donation, our volunteer photographers (Tammy Fiegehen and Krystin Miller-Jacques) visited many homes in our community (as well as some sessions at the notoriously beautiful Fort Creek) for portrait sessions – all while maintaining social distancing.
“I enjoyed meeting some amazing families who helped to support Habitat through the Porch Pictures Project! All of the families I spoke to were thrilled with their photos and that made me very happy! I am happy that I could voluntarily contribute my time and talent to this great cause this year!” noted Tammy Fiegehen of Tammy Fiegehen Photojourney.
“I am so happy to have been able to participate in Habitat’s Porch Portrait Fundraiser! After spending 8 weeks with Habitat in a Canada Summer Jobs position, I knew I wanted to continue to help Habitat achieve its goal of helping 8 more families by 2025. I had such a wonderful time meeting new people and capturing their families! Habitat’s program has such an incredibly valuable impact on our community, and I hope to be able to volunteer with their next Porch Portraits! Until then, I highly encourage you to check out the ReStore!” stated Krystin Miller-Jacques of Instantané Jacques.
All funds raised by our Porch Portraits fundraiser have gone directly into our Affordable Homeownership Program where they will help local families build brighter futures.
“For the few minutes we spent with each family, we were able to divert attention from what is going on in the outside world and focus on what is really important – family and home. Thank you to all the families who participated; together we will help families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership,” states Pauline Pennett, Resource Coordinator at Habitat.
