Visit Our Online Habitat ReStore!

Thank you for considering a donation of your materials to ReStore. We greatly appreciate your generosity and goodwill because we cannot exist without you. We currently accept donations of building materials, appliances, collectibles, antiques, and artwork.

Donation drop-offs are currently accepted from Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Curbside donation pick-ups are by appointment only and can be booked online or by phone. The Donation Centre will be closed October 20 and 21.

Habitat Sault Ste. Marie's Restore is a home improvement outlet offering new and gently used building supplies, kitchens, décor, appliances, furniture and much more for a fraction of the retail price, plus you never pay the HST. Whether you're looking to renovate your kitchen or bathroom, re-furnish your living room, or fix up your basement, the ReStore should be your first stop!

The ReStore is proudly owned and operated by Habitat Sault Ste. Marie and Area. Your donations and purchases help homeowners achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves and their families.


New items are approximately 50% lower than retail. All other items are priced according to quality and demand. Our goal is to offer a warm and inviting atmosphere; we want you to have a positive experience so that we can spread the joy from our Habitat family to yours!

We post a selection of our merchandise online to Facebook, Instagram, Kijiji, and our newsletter just so you can see the newest items that the ReStore has to offer!


Remodeling, cleaning out, downsizing or just getting organized? Consider donating your excess household goods and building materials to the ReStore. You’ll get the satisfaction of knowing your donations helped support local families - and didn’t end up in the landfill. For businesses, donating to the ReStore is a great way to move discontinued or excess stock, deal with gently used returns, and show your customers that you care about the environment and your community.

Three Easy Ways to Donate

Our Donation Centre hours are Monday to Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please do not drop off items overnight. 

Every shopper, donor and volunteer is helping to fulfill Habitat’s mission. 
By shopping, donating and volunteering at your neighbourhood Habitat ReStore, you are part of a worldwide movement dedicated to ensuring everyone has a decent place to live. Helping your community has never been so easy.

Please review the list below prior to scheduling a pick up or dropping off at the Donation Processing Centre.

Items we can accept:

  • Appliances & Electronics (non-working appliances with the exception of freezers, fridges and dehumidifiers)
  • Antiques
  • Bathtubs (clawfoot, acrylic)
  • Cabinets & Moldings
  • Flooring, Doors & Windows
  • Lighting Fixtures
  • Kitchen Sinks & Plumbing Fixtures
  • Lumber (clean with no nails)
  • New Toilets
  • Furniture (dressers, tables, etc.)
  • Tools (hand and powered)
  • New Cans of Paint & Cleaning Products

Items we cannot accept:

  • Mattresses and Box Springs
  • Baby items/baby furniture
  • Used Toilets
  • Soft goods (clothing, bed linen, towels, shoes, etc)
  • Damaged MDF or pressboard furniture
  • Used cans of paint
  • Used bottles or cans of cleaning products

By donating new or gently used building materials, furniture, and appliances, you can help improve our community. When you donate items to a ReStore, you may be eligible receive a tax receipt for the value of the item(s).


Revenue generated from the sale of product at the ReStore covers operational expenses of HFHSSMA.  Any funds over and above operational expenses are put towards our mission of building affordable housing in Sault Ste. Marie and area. That means every dollar raised goes directly into building homes and strengthening communities.


Whether you buy or donate materials, you are helping to reduce the amount of usable building materials being deposited into a landfill. For every $1 of product sold at a ReStore, approximately 1.3lbs of waste is diverted from local landfills


Our mission is to build homes in partnership with hardworking, low income families in Sault Ste Marie. We build social capital through skill development, networking and mentoring opportunities.
